So I guess what I'm trying to say is yes buying a expensive pair of boots is definitely worth the investment but try on as many different kinds of brands and styles as you can because not all boots are created equal and they are going to be with you for a long time, if you don't love the way they feel keep looking.It’s no secret that many people experience longer break-in periods with Red Wing Heritage boots. My redwings haven't aged as gracefully as I would have hoped. The leather is just as thick but softer out of the box, I didn't have your typical break in period, they felt great the day I bought them and have only become better with use. What I wear 90% of the time for my everyday shoe is the Ariat Workhog. I would recommend going into the store and buying them new, you have to figure that everyone's foot is different and buying a used pair you may find that the leather is worn in the wrong place or like someone mentioned earlier the heel is worn wrong for your foot. They are fine now but not my goto shoe by any means. I own 2 pairs of redwings boots and they hurt my feet like no other for the first month and half of breaking them in and we are talking 65 hour work weeks. Although, I did have to explain to several people that I did not just walked into the work area in my sneakers. They're not ideal for some of the jobs the Red Wings can do, but for my line of work they are perfect. I have spent far less on a set of Pumas to work and even after 8 hours in them, it still feels like walking on clouds. Sure, they'll last you years in the worst conditions possible and a decade with normal use, but it's the most uncomfortable time you'll ever have. This again depends on the use that they had and most likely this is not the case.įinal word, even though I haven't used this model, my company as Red Wings as a standard ( ) and they are horrible. this will mean that you will have to wear them and not have a proper posture possibly leading to back pain until the slant gets "fixed" by your natural posture. The other problem depending on how lightly it has been used is if the person slanted the soles on one end or heel, etc. I know this is not easy on Red Wings, but still possible. The problem with a boot being worn in is that the person using may have kinked the leather in some way making it uncomfortable for you. since you're gonna spend so much time in it, you might as well get something good (you seem to got that covered) and new. The Red Wing boots sure do last and those seem a bit more easier to air than other models.
